While this is still funny to listen to, the depth of this brand of comedy is constantly waning. And that is a little disheartening, being that there are so many comics now that just get up to the plate and try to kill the ball, when all they need is a nice in the park double. Oh yes, I am bridging baseball and comedy here. Listening to this Bill Murray classic now feels like listening to an old baseball sportscast and then watching a current season game. The game has changed so much. And like baseball, the world of comedy is so different. The comedic wave has risen and crashed. I seldom really think about it until someone either dies and gets a ‘Best of’ special, if I happen to catch some lame retrospective or if I am watching something that is so bad that my mind is left searching for answers regarding the comic’s success (ie- Dane Cook).
