In the 1970’s, for $250, my uncle’s drummer bought Slingerland drums with a Mother of Pearl finish from a pawn shop in Cleveland. The kick drum had two drum heads on the outer side. They could not believe their eyes when the top head was removed.  In clear as day lettering, the inner head read “Louis Bellson,” making this cheap purchase a deal of a lifetime. The guy at the pawn shop never knew what he had in his posession.
